The Moselle Trail
The Moselle Trail is a long-distance hiking path that runs 365 km from Perl to Koblenz.
It is divided into 24 stages, which can also be hiked individually as half-day tours.
Near the Orange Tree holiday home, stages 10, 11, and 12 of the Moselle Trail are located.
Moselle Trail – Stage 10
Osann-Monzel – Bernkastel-Kues
You hike through impressive rock cliffs with beautiful slate formations and cross world-famous vineyards such as the Brauneberger Juffer.
Along hillside paths, the route steadily ascends, with occasional views over the Moselle. Numerous scenic spots invite you to rest and stop for refreshments.
Finally, you reach Burg Landshut, which majestically overlooks Bernkastel-Kues and offers an impressive view over the Moselle and the famous wine town, where this stage ends in the picturesque old town.

Moselle Trail – Stage 11
Bernkastel-Kues – Ürzig
The hiking trail passes not far from the Orange Tree holiday home.
Along the way, there are opportunities to stop in Zeltingen-Rachtig and at the former Cistercian monastery Kloster Machern.
Shortly before Zeltingen-Rachtig, you can also visit the Zeltingen variety garden, where exotic and almost forgotten native fruit and vegetable varieties are cultivated.
Numerous detours through shaded forest sections and grassy paths along the ridge provide variety and offer fantastic views over the Moselle Valley.

Moselsteig Etappe 12
Ürzig - Traben-Trarbach
Ein typischer Höhenweg – und eröffnet dem Wanderer dadurch ungewöhnlich viele und imposante Ausblicke ins Moseltal. Gleichzeitig verbindet sie reizvolle Weinorte miteinander: Ürzig, eine geschichtsträchtige Moselgemeinde, deren historischer Ortskern von Patrizier- und Fachwerkgebäuden geprägt ist; sowie Traben-Trarbach, die berühmte Jugendstilstadt, die um 1900 nach Bordeaux der zweitgrößte Weinumschlagplatz Europas war. Oberhalb von Traben schließlich – auf dem Mont Royal – wandert man auf geschichtsträchtigem Grund: König Ludwig XIV. ließ hier Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts eine riesige Festung erbauen.

The Moselle Camino
In principle, it would be possible to follow this route all the way to Santiago de Compostela. The Moselle Camino is part of the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago) and is about 160 kilometers long.
The pilgrimage route leads from Koblenz-Stolzenfels to the Benedictine Abbey of St. Matthias Abbey Trier.
It offers pilgrims and hikers a varied path through the picturesque Moselle Valley, passing historic towns, impressive castles, and idyllic vineyards.
Along its course, the Moselle Camino shares certain sections of its route with the Moselle Trail.
Moselle Camino – Stage 5
Traben-Trarbach – Osann-Monzel
The route leads through picturesque vineyards, charming villages, and offers impressive views over the Moselle.
Along the way, you pass sights such as the historic town of Bernkastel-Kues with its half-timbered houses and panoramic views of the Moselle.

Other hiking trails
Although not as famous as the Way of St. James, the many other hiking trails still offer just as many small moments of happiness.
There are very different hiking routes in the area. For walkers, there are short circular routes with little elevation gain, and for those who like to use their hands while hiking, there are via ferratas with different levels of difficulty.

The Calmont Via Ferrata
Neef – Ediger-Eller – Neef
This is certainly one of the most beautiful hikes you can do in the Moselle Valley: the via ferrata in Bremm along the Moselle, in the steepest vineyard in Europe!
You should have sure footing and be free from vertigo.

Himmelreich Hiking Trail

From the holiday home in Graacher Schäferei, you can directly explore the Himmelreich hiking trail. This circular route of about 7.5 kilometers leads you through vineyards and light forests high above the Moselle.
Along the way, you enjoy impressive views of the Moselle Valley and pass sights such as the goat enclosure and the viewpoint “Maria Zill”.

Graacher Schanzen Trail

From the Orange Tree holiday home in Graacher Schäferei, you can directly explore the Graacher Schanzen Trail. This circular route of about 5.5 kilometers leads you through vineyards and forests high above the Moselle Valley.
Along the way, you pass the historic Graacher Schanzen, a defensive fortification from the 18th century, and enjoy impressive views over the Moselle Valley.

Bernkastel Bear Trail
Bernkastel-Kues
The Bernkastel Bear Trail is a circular hiking route of about 6.4 kilometers that loops around the beautiful town of Bernkastel-Kues and offers impressive views of the surrounding area.
The hike starts in the old town and leads through forests, along streams, and past rock formations. Along the way, you cross a small wooden bridge and reach several viewpoints with benches inviting you to rest.
