DISCOVER THEM SPECTACULAR RIVER LANDSCAPE

Unusual Christmas Markets

During Advent, the Moselle transforms into a ribbon of lights made of half-timbered houses, wine cellars, and the scent of mulled wine.

In Bernkastel-Kues, stalls crowd around the historic market square, while a floating Advent wreath gently sways on the river and divers swim with torches to Burg Landshut on December 23rd.

Nearby Traben-Trarbach attracts visitors with the “Mosel Wine Christmas Market,” held in romantically illuminated Art Nouveau wine cellars, serving winemaker mulled wine and crafts underground.

The route is complemented by atmospheric weekend markets in Cochem in front of the castle, in the cathedral setting of Trier, as well as at the castles of Alken and Beilstein — perfect stops for a winter stroll along the Moselle.

Wine tasting at the Orange Tree holiday home

e.g. with Weingut Edmund Becker

In winter, the Orange Tree holiday home becomes a cosy place of enjoyment: in front of a crackling fireplace, the host organises a private wine tasting with selected Moselle Rieslings and sparkling wines from local winemakers.

While snowflakes fall outside, you immerse yourself in the warm atmosphere and discover the aromas of the region, learning interesting facts about terroir and winemaking. You can also order your favourite wines directly for your holiday or to take home.

More information can be found under our “exclusive services”.

Wine tastings at the holiday home should be requested in advance. Outside the high season from November to March, appointments are more flexible and available.

Erbeskopf – Rhineland-Palatinate’s highest point

Erbeskopf

In winter, the Erbeskopf transforms into the highest winter sports area in Rhineland-Palatinate: two short, snow-covered downhill slopes with a drag lift, several groomed cross-country ski trails, and a separate toboggan run offer easy winter fun for families.

The 816-meter summit trail remains cleared, so you can still enjoy the view from the Skytower even in freezing temperatures or take part in a guided torchlight hike in the national park.

A rental service at the base station provides ski, sled, and snowboard equipment, while huts offering mulled wine and soup provide warm breaks.

This makes the Erbeskopf an ideal destination for a spontaneous winter day in the Hunsrück region.

Excursion to the Traben-Trarbach underground world

Traben-Trarbach was known as the second-largest wine trading hub in Europe around 1900 and offers many insights and information about wine production and trade.

During a guided tour through the gigantic wine cellars, which are connected beneath the entire town and extend like a hidden labyrinth below the surface, you can learn a lot and expand your wine knowledge with a tasting session.

A very special wine experience.

Museums

The Heimatmuseum im Mattheiser Hof and the Heimatmuseum Graacher Tor immerse visitors in the history of the region, while the Mosel Wine Museum provides interesting insights into wine growing.

Technology enthusiasts can visit the Zylinderhaus Nostalgia and Classic Car Museum with its historic vehicles and nostalgic exhibitions.
