Moselle Beaches

You can cool off wonderfully in the refreshing Moselle River, and swimming is permitted. The water quality is very good during periods of low water level (quality class II).

However, it is important to be aware that the river is also used by ferry traffic, so we recommend being especially careful and staying close to the riverbank. Children or people who are not strong swimmers should not swim in the Moselle.

If you bring a SUP board, canoe, or inflatable boat, you can enjoy your day on the Moselle even more!

  • Under the Hochmosel Bridge (10 minutes)

  • Kövenig (25 minutes)

  • Moselperle with sandy beach & bar (35 minutes)

Swimming lakes

In summer, people often look for a relaxing spot in nature to jump into the water.

In the Eifel region, there are many maars formed by volcanic activity. Today, they are perfect for swimming.

Swimming lakes:

  • Pulvermaar (35 minutes driving time)

  • The three Daun maars: Schalkenmehren Maar, Gemündener Maar and Weinfelder Maar (35 minutes driving time)

Outdoor and Indoor Swimming Pools

Along the Moselle, there are also many great outdoor pools where you can spend a classic summer day by the water. Salty fries, large sunbathing lawns, and beach volleyball complete the experience.

  • Moselbad Bernkastel-Kues (13 minutes driving time)

  • Moseltherme Traben-Trarbach (30 minutes driving time)

Canoe Rental Bernkastel-Kues

The canoe rental service in Bernkastel-Kues not only offers the possibility to rent canoes and stand-up paddle boards (SUPs) for individual tours, but also organises guided tours along the Moselle.

These tours allow visitors to explore the picturesque river landscape between Wintrich and Traben-Trarbach under professional guidance.

Whether for beginners or experienced paddlers – the guided tours provide a safe and informative experience on the water.

Triolago Leisure Lake

The Triolago Leisure Lake in Riol is a versatile excursion destination directly on the Moselle River, combining water fun, action, and relaxation.

The large swimming lake invites visitors to relax on sunbathing lawns or enjoy pedal boats and rowing boats. Those looking for more action can use the water ski and wakeboard facility or race down into the valley on the “Moselbob” — a 1,170-meter summer toboggan run.

For families, there are also mini golf, football golf, an adventure playground, and various dining options. Those who wish to stay longer can spend the night at the adjacent campsite with pitches and rental accommodations.

Moselperle Trier​

Die Moselperle ist ein künstlich angelegter Sandstrand direkt an der Mosel in Trier-Nord, unterhalb des Nordbads. Mit Liegestühlen, Sonnenschirmen und einer Strandbar bietet sie eine entspannte Urlaubsatmosphäre mitten in der Stadt. Das gastronomische Angebot umfasst Biere vom Fass, regionale Weine, Cocktails sowie Snacks wie Pommes und Bratwurst. Zudem können Besucher Stand-Up-Paddle-Boards ausleihen, um die Mosel aktiv zu erkunden.

Water Playground

The water playground on the Moselle riverbank in Zeltingen-Rachtig offers children and families an exciting opportunity to playfully discover how the Moselle River was formed.

With elements recreating the source of the Moselle and the famous river bends, children can splash around and experiment to their heart’s content.

Nearby, there is also a mini golf course and a children’s playground offering additional entertainment.
