Excursion to Bernkastel-Kues
Bernkastel-Kues feels like a living fairy-tale book: almost the entire old town consists of tightly packed half-timbered houses from different eras — Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Art Nouveau blend into a labyrinth-like network of alleys and squares.
High above it all, the ruins of Burg Landshut complete the distinctive panorama.
A large paid parking area along the Moselle riverbank serves as a convenient starting point for exploring the town on foot.

Trier vereint römische Monumente und mittelalterlichen Charme auf kleinstem Raum: Porta Nigra, Dom, Kaiserthermen und Konstantinbasilika liegen nur Schritte voneinander entfernt, während gemütliche Weinlokale am Moselufer zum Verschnaufen einladen. Traben-Trarbach – Art Nouveau Jewel of the Moselle
Traben-Trarbach attracts visitors with elegant Art Nouveau architecture along a bend of the Moselle: magnificent villas, former wine cellars, and the iconic silhouette of the Bridge Gate reflect the town’s former wine trade boom.
Above the twin town, the ruins of Grevenburg Castle watch over the valley. Down by the river, the Moselle promenade, the Buddha Museum, and cosy wine bars invite you to enjoy a relaxed day trip.
Manderscheid Upper and Lower Castles
Manderscheid in the Vulkaneifel region impresses with a “double pack” of castles. The Upper Castle and Lower Castle stand facing each other above the wild Lieser Gorge — along with a surprisingly alpine extra: the Manderscheid Castle via ferrata.
The secured climbing route (grade B/C) leads over ladders, steel cables, and rock ledges directly through the gorge, offering spectacular close-up views of both ruins.
Combined with the panoramic circular trail between the castles and hikes to nearby maars (e.g. Meerfelder Maar), Manderscheid easily fills an active day trip full of nature and castle romance.
Cochem – Pearl of the Moselle
Cochem, the “Pearl of the Moselle,” presents itself with the towering Reichsburg Cochem as a striking landmark above a charming old town full of half-timbered houses and vine-covered facades.
The market square, the baroque town hall, and a maze of narrow streets can be easily explored on foot. Afterwards, the chairlift to the Pinner Kreuz offers a panoramic view over the river bend and vineyard slopes.
Moselle boat trips, cycling paths, and an excursion to the nearby Calmont via ferrata complete this perfect day trip.
Erbeskopf – the highest point of Rhineland-Palatinate
Erbeskopf is the highest mountain in Rhineland-Palatinate and a true outdoor paradise.
In the Trailpark Erbeskopf, mountain bikers can test their skills on various routes, while the HighLive high ropes course offers exciting challenges and a thrilling zip line for adventure seekers.
The treetop walk and Skytower provide spectacular views of the surrounding nature, while the summer toboggan run and Fly-Line offer fast-paced fun.
In winter, the Erbeskopf becomes a popular destination for cross-country skiing and downhill skiing. Throughout the year, the region offers activities for all ages and every adventure level.
A Summer Day at the Daun Maars
The Daun maars – three almost perfectly round volcanic lakes near Daun – are an ideal summer destination in the Eifel region.
At Schalkenmehren Maar and Gemündener Maar, you’ll find natural beach areas, boat rentals, and sunbathing lawns, while Weinfelder Maar is a quiet nature reserve with a scenic lakeside walking loop.
A well-developed network of cycling and hiking trails, including the Maare–Moselle cycle route, connects the crater lakes with viewpoints such as the Dronketurm.
Picnic areas, cafés, and typical Eifel ice cream complete a perfect summer day between deep-blue water and green volcanic hills.
Experience World at the Nürburgring
The Nürburgring in the Eifel is far more than just a racetrack. In addition to the legendary Nordschleife (“Green Hell”) and the Grand Prix circuit, there are numerous activities for visitors:
