DISCOVER THEM SPECTACULAR RIVER LANDSCAPE

THE MOSEL

Here, you can expect ancient world cultural heritage, impressive castles, exquisite cuisine, historic wine towns and cities, Moselle cycle paths, and of course, a beautiful hiking region for relaxed walks or climbing tours on the Calmontsteig, the steepest vineyard in Europe.

Moselle Beaches

Of course, you can also enjoy cooling off in the refreshing waters of the Moselle, which is permitted. The water quality is excellent (though not suitable for drinking). However, it's important to be aware that the river is also frequented by ferry traffic, so we recommend exercising extra caution and staying close to the shore. If you have a SUP board, canoe, or inflatable boat with you, you can enhance your day on the Moselle even more!

Popular beaches:

  • Klosterruine Stuben (9 minutes driving time - personal recommendation)

  • Bruttig (22 minutes driving time)

  • Under the Hochmoselbrücke (25 minutes driving time)

  • Kövenig (20 minutes driving time)

Lakes for Swimming

In summer, people often look for a relaxed spot in nature to take a dip. In the Eifel region, there are many maars formed by volcanic activity, perfect for swimming nowadays.

  • Pulvermaar (30 minutes driving time)

  • Schalkenmehrener Maar (35 minutes driving time) - actually 3 lakes

Outdoor Pools

Along the Moselle, there are also many great outdoor pools where you can spend a classic summer day by the pool. Salty fries, spacious sunbathing areas, and beach volleyball complete the experience.

  • Erlebnisbad Zeller Land (8 minutes driving time)

  • Freibad Ellenz-Poltersdorf (20 minutes driving time)

  • Freibad Kröver Reich (25 minutes driving time)

  • Spiel- und Spaßbad Treis-Karden (30 minutes driving time)

Canoe Rental Middle Moselle

Here you can book a canoe tour. For example, you could take the scenic train (DB) to Traben-Trarbach and plan a canoe tour on the way back. This would take approximately 5 to 8 hours and pass by forests, vineyards, and other attractions. Of course, you can also choose a shorter route.
