THE MOSEL
Here, you can expect ancient world cultural heritage, impressive castles, exquisite cuisine, historic wine towns and cities, Moselle cycle paths, and of course, a beautiful hiking region for relaxed walks or climbing tours on the Calmontsteig, the steepest vineyard in Europe.

Extraordinary Christmas Markets
During Advent season, the Moselle region transforms into a ribbon of lights, half-timbered houses, wine cellars, and the scent of mulled wine.
In Bernkastel-Kues, market stalls gather around the historic market square, while a floating Advent wreath drifts on the river and divers swim with torches to Burg Landshut on December 23rd.
Nearby Traben-Trarbach attracts visitors with the “Moselle Wine Christmas Market,” held in romantically illuminated Art Nouveau wine cellars, where winemakers’ mulled wine and handmade crafts are served underground.
The route is complemented by atmospheric weekend markets in Cochem beneath the Reichsburg Cochem, within the cathedral ensemble of Trier, and near the castles of Alken and Beilstein — perfect stops for a magical winter journey along the Moselle.
